Dialogue on Linking Tourism and Protected Areas
[#146]
Building on the Oslo conference and on the Arendal Workshop on Linking Tourism and Conservation, a number of international organizations (UNEP/GRID-Arendal, UNEP/DTIE, the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity, IUCN's World Commission on Protected Areas, among others) have begun a collaboration to develop 3 project proposals to put into practice some of the gaps and needs identified in these events.
In order to make those proposals more feasible, and to set up resource management systems to implement them, we would like to ask you to contribute your experience and suggestions. In partnership with a web-based ecotourism portal,
http://www.planeta.com, we will hold a dialogue to further develop these ideas.
The Dialogue on Linking Tourism and Protected Areas will run from July 3 to 27, 2007, at
http://www.planeta.com/ecotravel/tour/protectedareas.html Please visit the site in order to get more details about the projects and useful resources related to Tourism and Protected Areas.
